Lawn care in Halifax usually goes wrong in one of two ways. You give up every second Saturday to the mower, or you hire someone cheap and find out in August what was never included. We run lawn care the way we run every other job: one crew, one price for the season, and Jack on pretty much every property.
What a season with us looks like
The season runs from early May to the end of October, about 12 cuts every two weeks depending on the weather. It starts with a spring cleanup to clear out what the winter left behind, and it ends with a fall cleanup and a short last cut so the grass does not mat down under the first snow. Everything in between is booked on a schedule, so you are not chasing anyone.
Why we cut at 2.5 to 3 inches
Cutting lower makes a lawn look sharp for a few days, then it browns out by August. At 2.5 to 3 inches the roots stay shaded and the lawn holds up through a dry stretch. Every edge, curb, step, post and tree gets whipper snipped, and the clippings are blown off the driveway and walks before we leave.
Lime, fertilizer and aeration
Our rain keeps Nova Scotia soil on the acidic side, so lime is part of every contract to bring the pH back to where grass does well. Fertilizer goes down through the season, and once a year the lawn is aerated so water and nutrients reach the roots instead of running off packed ground.
Homes and commercial grounds
We look after home lawns across Halifax, Bedford, Sackville, Hammonds Plains and Tantallon, and commercial grounds for property managers, retail plazas, multi-unit buildings and HOAs across HRM.
A lot of cheap lawn quotes are mowing only, with the cleanups, fertilizer and lime billed later or not done at all. Ours is one price for all of it, so you know what the season costs in May.
✓ Grass cut to 2.5 to 3 inches, about every two weeks from May to October.
✓ Whipper snipping along every edge, curb, step, post and tree.
✓ Weeds trimmed out of the driveway, walkways and other hard surfaces.
✓ Clippings swept or blown off every hard surface before we leave.
✓ Spring and fall cleanups, with the debris hauled off the property.
✓ Flower beds edged and weeded, and shrubs trimmed as they need it.
✓ Fertilizer and lime through the season, and aeration once a year.
Put two quotes side by side. One covers mowing, both cleanups, fertilizer, lime and aeration, with the debris hauled away. The other is mowing only, and the cleanups get billed when the season turns. On a residential property, two cleanups billed on their own typically run $600 to $2,400 a year, so the cheaper quote often ends up costing more, plus three extra phone calls. Before you sign anything, ask what height they cut at and whether the cleanups and the debris removal are included.

A season is priced on how much grass there is, how many beds and trees, the slope, and how easy it is to get a mower onto the lawn. A quarter-acre lot takes about an hour to mow; a full acre takes three to four. We walk the property and send one flat written price for the season within 24 hours.
✓ Full-season lawn and property maintenance: from $1,000 a season
✓ Snow plowing on the same contract: from $1,000 a season, November 1 to April 30
✓ New sod where the lawn is past saving: from $2.50/sq ft installed
✓ Hydroseeding: $0.35/sq ft
✓ Commercial grounds: priced per site after a walk-through
✓ Extra work outside the contract: $75/hour labour
How much does lawn care cost in Halifax?
Our full-season contracts start at $1,000 and are priced on the size of the property, the beds and trees, and the slope. That covers mowing, trimming, both cleanups, bed and shrub care, fertilizer, lime and aeration.
How often do you mow?
About every two weeks from early May to the end of October, roughly 12 cuts depending on the weather.
Do you do one-time mowing?
No. We only mow on season contracts, because mowing on its own does not keep a lawn healthy and a contract means no surprise invoices. Spring and fall cleanups can be booked on their own.
Do you do weed control?
Yes. Beds are weeded through the season, weeds are trimmed out of the hard surfaces, and we spot treat lawn and garden weeds, with hand pulling where chemicals are not an option.
Can you add snow removal?
Yes. Plowing and shovelling can go on the same contract, with salting available, so you have one company and one bill all year. Our snow season runs November 1 to April 30.
Which areas do you cover?
Halifax, Bedford, Lower, Middle and Upper Sackville, Hammonds Plains, Tantallon, Dartmouth and the rest of HRM.
