If your lawn stays soggy for days after every rain, or water keeps working its way toward your basement, the fix is usually drainage. Doucet installs French drains, swales, catch basins, dry wells and downspout extensions across Halifax and the HRM, and regrades yards that slope the wrong way.
We dig the trench and do the finish work with the same crew, so the people setting the fall on your drain are the people who come back to lay the sod or the patio over it. Fully licensed and insured, with a 1 year workmanship warranty on every install.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a French drain cost in Halifax?
We quote drainage as a whole job after a site visit, because two drains the same length can be completely different jobs. Underneath the price is our excavator and operator at $150 an hour and labour at $75 an hour, plus stone, pipe and fabric. You get an itemized written quote before anyone digs.
How deep does a French drain need to go?
A typical yard drain in Halifax runs about 18 to 24 inches deep. The depth is set by where the water sits and where the outlet is. A drain protecting a foundation is set by the footing instead, which is usually deeper.
Do I actually need a French drain?
Often not. If your downspouts dump roof water beside the foundation, extending them is the cheapest fix there is. If the whole yard slopes toward the house, regrading fixes the cause instead of catching the symptom. A French drain earns its money when the ground itself stays saturated after the rain has stopped.
What else do you install for drainage?
Swales, catch basins, dry wells, downspout extensions and full regrading. On a flat lot with nowhere downhill to send water, a dry well or catch basin usually comes into it too.
What areas do you cover?
All of HRM. Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford, Sackville, Tantallon, Hammonds Plains, Cole Harbour, Lawrencetown, Hubbards, Chester and the surrounding communities.
